Anthony Garcia is a songwriter, guitarist and classically trained pianist based in Austin, Texas. His musical style has most accurately been described as "cinematic Americana," a genre that interweaves songwriting with expanding, quasiorchestral sections.  Versatile is the best word to describe his performance; Garcia often switches between genres within a set, and sometimes switches between instruments within a single song. A lover of rock, blues, classical piano and Spanish guitar, and a fan of soulful vocals and old standards, Garcia's musicianship and eclectic song choices always keep the audience enraptured and inspired.

Music on the patio with Jim Bryant & Hilary Haney
1:00 PM to 4:00 PM     Sat, May 25, 2024
Venue: Texas Hills Vineyard, 878 Ranch Road 2766, Johnson City, TX 78636
Contact: TEXAS HILLS VINEYARD 830-868-2321, office@texashillsvineyard.com

Jim and Hilary are an acoustic Americana duo, who both reside and perform in the Greater Ausin area.  Jim Bryant is a drummer-turned-guitarist who has opened for several well-known bands, and now shares his clear and passionate voice with his equally expressive partner, Hilary Haney.  Hilary began musical life at the piano, but quickly found guitar as a simpler way to convey her songs.  She now defers to her partner for guitar, but has taken up harmonica and percussive instruments to enhance their talents. Together, they find performing music in the area to be one of the greatest gifts of all!

June 2024
Music on the patio with Zak Schaffer
1:00 PM to 4:00 PM     Sat, Jun 1, 2024
Venue: Texas Hills Vineyard, 878 Ranch Road 2766, Johnson City, 78636
Contact: Office 830-285-0916, office@texashillsvineyard.com

The joy of seeing Zak play lies in getting to witness someone who has been through a lot and is still standing; and getting better as time passes. Like a fine wine that needs to age (and breathe for a while) Zak is a performer of a bygone age when there were no laptops or loop pedals. Where simply playing and singing was more than enough - and to be fair, that’s all there was.

Music on the patio with Cats in Hats

Contact: Office 830-868-2321, office@texashillsvineyard.com

The trio Cats in Hats was formed in 2022. It consists of Ruth Stitt on guitar and vocals, her husband Rick on drums, and their dear friend for over 30 years, Frank Little on bass. These three have played many gigs together on and off over the many years of their friendship. When they all wound up together in the Hill Country, it made sense to “put the band back together.” Cats in Hats plays jazz standards, Latin songs, ballads, and blues, all with plenty of improvisation. They mix in a variety of contemporary songs they have arranged to express their unique style. These include favorites by Bonnie Raitt, Stevie Wonder, Cat Stevens, The Beatles, E.L.P., Bob Marley, Bill Withers, and others. You'll enjoy the distinct sound of these seasoned musicians.

Monte was born loving music.

He drifted off to sleep each night as a young lad listening to KEWI, a radio station in Topeka, Kansas. The sounds of the great ones like Aretha Franklin, Paul  McCartney, Simon, and Garfunkel would fill his room and serenade him to sleep.

Monte lived in Arkansas through college until I moved to Dallas in the early ’80s. With a “borrowed” guitar from a friend he began to teach himself to play and sing. He started playing in public in local churches and years later started acoustic performances as a solo artist as well as with duo’s and other bands.

He began to write his own songs several years ago. Two songs, “Desperate Susan” which was recorded with Milo Deering who toured for years with the Eagles, and “Double Wide Heart” can be heard on Spotify, iTunes, and other music platforms. Parker Howard, a Nashville recording artist, recorded “Double Wide Heart”, a song Monte wrote on her Texas Girl CD.

Today, Monte lives in Waco, TX with his wife Jana and their dog, Jett. They spend as much time with their kids and grandkids in Dallas and Austin as they can.

Monte travels all over north and central Texas playing at a variety of venues.

Brian Byrwa

Brian Byrwa is a singer-songwriter who started his musical journey in ensemble performance as a high school student playing trumpet in the world-famous Plano Senior High School Band, having opportunities to perform on stage with the great Doc Severinsen. He was inspired to play guitar by a live performance of the late great Stevie Ray Vaughan at the age of 15 and started performing in the local music scene in the Dallas area as a blues guitarist and vocalist.

He relocated to Austin, TX in 2000 to continue pursuing interests in music and songwriting and has been a regular contributor to the Old Settlers Music Festival as the curator of their musical instrument petting zoo and also served as the original host of the Barbershop Picking circle at the Barbershop bar in Dripping Springs, Texas started back in 2013 and still going to date. As of late, his style pulls from influences marked by bluegrass, blues, and rock and roll capturing the human condition as a singer-songwriter.
