Kathy and I have had the great pleasure of traveling in the countries that border the Mediterranean and each country has its own version of a fish stew; boulillabaise (Provence), cacciucco (Tuscany), cuippin (Liguria), etc. We were always fond of this soup, where you appreciate the wine-based sauce (broth) by "sopping up" ample quantities of the sauce with heavy, full-bodied bread. We love the idea of sharing this kind of meal with our friends. Cioppino is a fish stew that originated in San Francisco by the Italian-American fishermen in the late 1800's, very much like the other fish stews listed.
On July 15th, Kathy and I will share a Cioppino meal in the winery with up to 24 of our Friends! We are limited to 24 guests because we will be eating among the tanks in the winery (where it will be cool).
